Guitarist and composer Aaron Dugan returns with his most compelling work yet — How to Never Fall Apart, a bold new trio album blending jazz, dub, reggae, and experimental sounds into immersive, boundary-pushing soundscapes. Known for his inventive guitar voice and fearless approach, Dugan has spent two decades shaping stages and recordings alongside artists such as Matisyahu (longtime bandmate and collaborator since 2003), Bill Laswell, Trevor Hall, and Mark Guiliana. These collaborations have cemented his reputation as a genre-defying musician who moves effortlessly between roots reggae, jazz improvisation, avant-garde experimentation, and deep grooves. With How to Never Fall Apart, Dugan distills those experiences into his own vision — a record that is at once exploratory and deeply grounded, showcasing the trio’s raw chemistry and sonic depth. This October, Dugan will debut the new music live while opening for Matisyahu on tour — bringing audiences an electrifying set that bridges his wide-ranging influences with a sound that is entirely his own. WEBSITEPhiladelphia-born and New York-based guitarist Aaron Dugan has built a career on invention, collaboration, and fearless exploration. Rooted in jazz, dub, reggae, and the avant-garde, his sound is both grounded and unbound — equally at home in deep grooves, meditative textures, and genre-bending improvisation. Music entered his life early. After picking up the guitar at fourteen in Northeast Philadelphia, Aaron went on to study jazz performance at Bucks County Community College and later earned his BFA in Jazz Composition at New York’s New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. That foundation shaped him into a musician who thrives on versatility and boundary-pushing creativity. Aaron is a founding member of Matisyahu’s original band and he toured worldwide and co-wrote on five projects, including Live at Stubb’s and Youth, both certified Gold. Beyond his work with Matisyahu, his discography spans collaborations with some of music’s most daring voices: legendary producer/bassist Bill Laswell (Roots Tonic Meets Bill Laswell), reggae pioneer Lee “Scratch” Perry, drummer Mark Guiliana, and genre icons like Bootsy Collins, John Zorn, and Maya Dunietz. Now, Aaron brings that wide-ranging experience into focus with his new trio record, How to Never Fall Apart. This latest release distills years of collaboration into his most personal and expansive vision yet. Blending jazz’s improvisational spirit with the pulse of reggae and the experimental edge of modern sound design, the album creates immersive sonic landscapes that feel both intimate and unbounded. This October, Aaron debuts the record live while opening for Matisyahu on tour. His trio set captures the raw chemistry and daring spirit of the album, reimagining it nightly onstage. How to Never Fall Apart is a bold new chapter in Aaron Dugan’s journey. Pre-save now and be among the first to step inside.
